6/30/2023 0 Comments Gsp the way of the fightIn early adulthood, whilst trying to make ends meet so he could invest in his training and his career, Georges spent time bouncing at nightclubs, worked as a garbage cleaner, slept on the floor of a dilapidated apartment and caught freezing cold trains to the Bronx in NYC to train with the best. GSP grew up in Montreal and studied and trained in Kyokushin Karate as a child. He is a former welterweight and middleweight UFC champion, and still holds the record for most consecutive wins in the UFC, tied at 20, and boasts a professional record of 26 wins with just 2 losses, both losses coming in championship fights relatively early in his career against Matt Hughes and Matt Serra, and both losses avenged relatively quickly as GSP, reflected, learned and applied the lessons to overcome his adversaries the second time around. If you’re not familiar with who Georges St Pierre aka GSP is, he is arguably the ‘GOAT’, that is, the greatest of all time mixed martial artist.

What was the appeal? Does everyone secretly-or openly-love horror? While neither as subtle or stylish as Gans' segment, this certainly delivers old-fashioned gore-a-plenty. Blending gothic traditions with science fiction, Lovecraft’s imagination created a world within our world. While he was undeniably racist in his views, his tales have inspired generations of writers and creative artists and helped shape pop culture. Having pursued the furtive driver of a speeding car into a subterranean world, a male and female cop are lured to their fate by a sly old bum and his blind, religious-fanatic wife, who feed them to some flying flesh-eaters. HPL (18901937) wrote his own unique style of cosmic weird fiction in the 1920s and 30s. Capping things off nicely is Society director Yuzna's 'Whispers', which makes a bloody spurt for the gorier end of the horror picture spectrum. By contrast, Japanese film-maker Kaneko's 'The Cold' is a torpid affair in which mad doctor Warner uses his victims' spinal fluid to sustain eternal life. Gans' sure build-up emphasises atmosphere and character rather than effects, but the gloopy finale certainly makes up for it. With its fluid camera style and lush score, French director Gans' 'The Drowned' is the most stylish segment, in which the inheritor of a 1920s cliff-top hotel, Payne, tries to resurrect his dead girlfriend. A three-part portmanteau movie based on tales by the horror author HP Lovecraft. 6/30/2023 0 Comments Nomadland bookIt’s a look into how people survive and even thrive while living within their lowly means. While this sounds depressing, the individual stories are not. Most Americans are barely hanging on, and millions are so poverty-stricken they do without more than a few meals per week. As Bruder points out, we may be the richest country in the world, but that’s not the whole story. This is a fascinating – and horrifying look into the “other-side” of America. Some of them were once upper middle-class, but once they lost a job, they were never able to recoup, and instead began a down-ward slope into poverty. Many of these individuals have lost everything mostly because of job loss, but also medical issues. So, what is so compelling about this book? Bruder, a reporter, chronicles the lives of mostly elderly people who have become nomads due to a severe lack of money. Since Frances McDormand is in this movie, I was really interested because she’s one of my favorite actors. This is a non-fiction book that I was drawn to due to the fact that I watched the movie trailer.
